Do it imperfectly
Whatever you're thinking of doing, you should start doing it, even if it's going to be imperfect.
Putting it off until you can get it just right is probably going to mean putting it off forever. Starting, on the other hand, greatly increases the odds that you will one day get close to doing it optimally.
Perfection is quite literally unobtainable – it's baked into our universe (see the laws of thermodynamics)! So stop fighting for something you can't get, and start making progress.
I'm trying to take my own advice by publishing this post. I want to get better at writing for various reasons: I have a lot on my mind that I want to process, it's a skill that I haven't practiced much recently, and it's something that I think will help me in some future careers that I'm considering. It's easy to read good writing and get discouraged about ever reaching that level. But not starting guarantees that I won't ever get better. So I'm going to start. The 100 Days To Offload challenge seemed like a good place to start. Even with the lack of time (full-time job, marriage, young child, holidays coming up) in my life, there's no time like the present to start!
So get started.
